Hello dear readers…I apologize greatly for being MIA as of late. Things have gotten crazy with being preparing to be a momma!! After dealing with “morning-sickness” that reared its head in the evening, working, and trying to stock up on sleep keeping up on my bargaining ways took an unfortunate but necessary back burner. But the sickness is gone, and evening is again my friend, and I am enjoying anticipating motherhood – so I’m back!!!!
Today the hubby and I went to Target and Babies-R-Us to go and register for our little girl’s (yes we’re having a baby girl!!!) baby shower (I confess to feeling guilty because I feel like not long ago we registered for our wedding). Thank God we waited until we knew the gender of the baby before going, because narrowing down to boy or girl is a must before looking. Things are all pink or all blue, and not too much yellow unless you’re going for Winnie the Pooh (I am not saying anything bad about winnie the pooh – my brother is named Christopher Robin – I needn’t say more…)
Mostly I’ve looked for sweet little clothes for my friends’ children, but I didn’t realize about everything that goes into baby care these days. I remember my mom taking care of my brother and I remember a crib, bibs, bottles, and blankets and the umbrella stroller that even I sat in. I don’t remember pack-n-plays, musical mobiles, electric breast pumps, video baby monitors, and car seats that are required through the age of 8 or dependent on child weight. Um yes…overwhelmed to say the least.
Like everything – the bargaining can continue with my little baby – and I think rightfully so because baby things are expensive!!!! When I go into a store now I don’t look for anything for me – it’s straight to the baby/infant section. I hear that is normal! There are a lot of websites devoted to children and babies, moms and parents-to-be, and I will share them with you, and as many tips that I come across – as many as I can!!!
Today’s website I found is: http://kids.woot.com/ – one deal, one day – always for children (and their parents). There is a blogging community and information on recalls!
If you’re like me and need a place to start because motherhood and parenthood is an entire realm of unknown – then sign up at www.parents.com and you are able to sign up for a free “American Baby” magazine that is a GREAT publication for new parents!
SO…I’m on the parenthood train….WOOT WOOT!!!!
